Description

The Victorinox WorkChamp is a 111mm, multi-layered pocket knife designed for heavy-duty tasks, featuring a robust locking mechanism for safety during use. While older versions utilized a sliding button lock (side-lock), the modern version of the WorkChamp transitioned to a liner-locking system in 2017.

Key Features of the WorkChamp Locking System:

Liner Lock Mechanism: The large, main blade locks securely in the open position using a liner-lock system, designed to prevent the knife from accidentally closing during use.

Lockable Bottle Opener: In addition to the main blade, the sturdy combination tool (bottle opener/screwdriver) also locks into place, often referred to as part of the locking toolset.

Side-Lock vs. Liner-Lock: Earlier versions had a sliding button on the side of the handle to release the lock, while the newer liner-lock requires pushing a metal liner to the side.

Blade Security: The locking blade is designed to stay “firm and true for smooth, safe cutting,” making it ideal for professional or DIY applications.

Physical and Design Description:

Size: 111 mm (approx. 4.37 inches) closed.

Handle: Red polyamide scales, often with an ergonomic shape for a better grip.

Weight: Approximately 205g for older slide-lock versions, and 228g for modern liner-lock versions.

Tools: Includes 21-31 functions (depending on if it is the standard WorkChamp or WorkChamp XL), including a large blade, metal saw, metal file, wood saw, pliers with wire cutters, and various screwdrivers.

Note: The WorkChamp is a large model (6 layers of tools) that is considered a “portable toolbox” rather than a small everyday carry knife.
