Description
The Camillus American Wildlife Series is a highly collectible line of vintage folding pocket and hunting knives introduced in the late 1970s and 1980s by the Camillus Cutlery Company in New York. The line is famous for its intricate, protective acrylic-encased pilgrim pewter inlays crafted by legendary Alaskan wildlife artist and silversmith, Sid Bell.Here are the key characteristics of the American Wildlife Series:Signature Artwork: Each knife in the series features an embossed or sculpted pewter inlay of a North American animal (such as a buck, pheasant, or mallard) set under a protective acrylic cover on the handle.Blade Details: Blades were crafted from high-carbon stainless steel (often 440A), prominently featuring an “American Wildlife” or “American Wildlife Series” blade etch.Handle Materials: The handles typically featured rich, jigged Delrin with a look of stag antler, accented with brilliant nickel silver bolsters and solid brass liners.
